First, just about every photographer out there has dreamed about shooting with a SuperTelephoto lens.
The magnification and framing, along with Canon's very best quality glass, makes your impages pop like no other lens can - except for another SuperTele
So by renting this one, you get to experience the thrill of making images with one of the best ever made.....
NARROW FRAMING
The images on this sample page are from one photo of Flynn checking out the tidepools at Jupiter Inlet, Florida.
This was my first outing with the 500 f/4L. As I had expected, the cropping of this photo to make the samples here was minor, leaving the majority of the original image available and keeping the cropped image sharp.
This is one of the many benefits of shooting with a SuperTele. It takes a little practice and patience but I had this lens up and running in about 1/2 hour, having never owned a true L series SuperTelephoto before.
AND EVEN CLOSER...
This image is more cropped than the last.. but you can see the image quality holds.
Even though this lens is a gen 1 IS lens, when you combine it with the R and even the last of the EF series cameras with IBIS, the combination can realistically give you 3 to 4 stops real world image stabilization.
Renting this lens can open many doors for you, and provides the option of using such a lens without the hassles and investment of ownership.
