This lens shoots very sharp and high resolution images. I find it to be as sharp as any of the L lenses in our inventory. With a 10x zoom range, and relatively small size, this workhorse lens is all you need for most street photography.

This lens is tack sharp. The lighter weight does not mean lighter quality glass - just a little less (smaller) glass!

This photo is simply of some street trash in the gutter outside of a nightclub, taken the following morning. it was really nothing more than a snapshot. 

The focusing speed of this lens is very fast. As you can see, the field of focus is well defined and generous at close distances. The glitter, trash and leaves in the focused area show high detail even when the picture is magnified. (see below)

In this highly cropped image of a water droplet against a cloudy blue sky, the resolution of the 24-240mm images even at the closest distance demonstrates that it can be a wonderful close up (not macro) lens depending upon the subject.
